The Hillsborough County Department of Corrections' Award Ribbon Program was established in 1995.  The Training and Programs Division revised this program in March of 1997.

The program enables all staff members of the department to be recognized for their specific accomplishments.  Corrections is one of the members of the law enforcement community that easily goes unnoticed by the public.  At times Correctional Staff feel extremely unappreciated for the hard work that they do.  Many heroic acts, by staff members are not given the appropriate recognition by the public, due to the fact that the majority of the public are unaware of the incidents of bravery that take place within the walls of a correctional institution.

By developing an award ribbon program, staff members are given the forum to proudly display symbols of their dedication, hard work and heroic acts to other staff members, volunteers and most importantly members of the community in which they assist in protecting.

Please take an opportunity to inquire about ribbons when you see an officer wearing them and join me in thanking correctional staff for providing all of us an enhanced level of protection.
